First steps of @Akulatraxas
For this project I've went in far more detail than any commission I've ever did before. Best decision ever! :D
The Toothless pattern nobody knew existed XD
This was... fun? While I knew Toohless had some kind of a pattern for a while now I never really looked closer to see it. The fact it's hard to see and only visible under certain lights isn't helpfull at all D: Aku went through both movies muliple times to provide me with enough referencess to paint it XD
First I did a couple of tests just to see how the paint interacted with muliple materials on the sculpture. I loved the dissapearing effect acrylic provided in the end, but turned to be quite bothersome to paint black on black.

Skin Scales-more dynamic
I wanted to have some more dynamic on the skin so instead of painting the scales on I "sculpted" them by applying diluted glue & clay mix with a tube on the surface
Jigsaw tail
Well this was a tedious work :D but the end result was well worth it ^^
in the pictures you can also see the spikes on the left have been trimmed to size becuse originally they were too protruding.

What size is the tail fin?
Making a template for the fins to figure out the right size and shape

the surface needed to be coated with diluted clay to make the surface "shooth" an cover every mark done when working on him :)
Painting the wings to give them them the matte look
No more "see throgh" wings :)
And they are gone!

Finally got those in. still need to better shape the eye sockets
Ataching the wing structure
this part may be a bit tricky but does not present much problems. First wire is cut and put together acording the sketch and in the end attached to the back of the figure.

Deep soulful eyes
Aku wanted Toothless to have relly vibrant eyes as that is the only part on him that can truely stand out an I realised that my first pair were not really cutting it, so I made a few more to test difeerent tecniques. The last ones were also the best ones and so went with those :)

I really really wanted to keep this one white, but ulimately decided against it. Some day... some day :P
A piece of nature
At first I wasn't planning to make this piece with a natural looking base. But the figure itself was so simple I felt it needed something more to make it whole :P
The Base
Testing out the cube bases and seeing what works. I seteled on a fairly large one in this case and then coated it with clay

Now finally done with the fur and I'm actually liking the reult

Was trying to lay down the pattern I wanted to vave for this sculpture. It helped some, but not to the exent I wanted it to. Maybe I should just pay more attention to what I do :P
